From Soil to Plate 🌿 | Ep.4 | A Small Beginning Continues
- The Griddle Team

Just a couple of weeks on from our first visit to the plot, we returned again — quietly checking in, making sure everything has been watered, and seeing what’s changed.
And already… things are growing.
🌱 The First Signs of Life
What started as freshly turned soil is now beginning to show real progress. But today wasn’t about planting from seed — it was about moving forward.
The mustard we had previously grown had reached the next stage, ready to be carefully replanted into a larger plot of land. Stronger, established, and ready to continue its journey.
A small step… but an important one.
Because at Griddle Bar & Meat House, we believe great food begins long before it reaches the plate.
🌿 From Soil to Plate in Ely
Just moments away from Ely Cathedral, our approach is simple — understand your ingredients, respect the process, and never compromise on quality.
Replanting these mustard greens is part of a bigger picture. It’s about knowing exactly where our ingredients come from, how they are grown, and ensuring they are treated with care every step of the way.
This is why we work closely with local suppliers across Cambridgeshire, and why we are beginning to grow more ourselves.
Because when you know your produce… you elevate your food.
🍽️ Purpose in Every Ingredient
This mustard won’t just stay in the ground — it will find its way into our kitchen.
Into dressings. Into sauces. Into dishes that sit proudly alongside our grilled meats.
Every ingredient has a purpose. Every flavour has a place.
And every plate tells a story.
👨‍🍳 What Comes Next
Very soon, we’ll be inviting you to be part of this journey.
We’ll be sharing simple recipes, ideas, and dishes you can recreate at home — using the same principles we follow in our kitchen here in Ely.
Proper food. Honest ingredients. No shortcuts.
